I am missing Carnival.

Posted: August 31, 2009 in Art, Tech

Gutted. Its carnival, the weather is absolutly perfect for a street party, and Im stuck in bed in my little flat with no one around to even give me any sympathy. Proper boring.

Fortunatly, I had gone round all of my neighbours and posted a hand written note to politely ask if I could borrow their wifi til I sort my own out. Some dude called Tim from 3 doors down, 2 flats up, texted with his wep key so now I have a bar of interwebz to play with. Better than nowt. In fact, without it I would be going fucking crazy…

So here are some more random Im-bored-and-stuck-in-my-bed links.

This is way cool. Basically its a lecture on wireless electricity.
“Eric Giler wants to untangle our wired lives with cable-free electric power. Here, he covers what this sci-fi tech offers, and demos MIT’s breakthrough version, WiTricity — a near-to-market invention that may soon recharge your cell phone, car, pacemaker.”

grrrr! fucking wordpress doesnt let you embed anything other than flippin YouTube or whatever players the approve into these blogs!! Absolutly bullshit.

irritated.

Um what else random have I stumbled upon…
Oh yeah this:

“Is social media a fad? Or is it the biggest shift since the Industrial Revolution? Welcome to the World of Socialnomics”

This is really cool, and so are some of the comments under it, definatly good debating material.
For Example:
TryonSMR posts: “Social media’s growth offers new communications tools, but it’s become a craze. New media don’t replace old mediums; they augment them.”
burbek posts: “The concept is right. The numbers are wildly exaggerated, though. There is, indeed, a revoution taking place. You just hope it’s led by people who are more honest with their numbers.”

Anyway its really interesting. imho.

Oh yeah. This is pretty nuts, not quite sue what to make of it really.
Check the link to a random article in the Guardian:

“The Worlds First Cocaine Bar Route 36 has turned La Paz, Bolivia into a hotspot for drug tourism, tempting backpackers from all over the world”
Its a crazy world…..
